There are over 500 different avid hate groups currently operating in the United States. Most commonly we associate the term hate group with organizations such as the Aryan Nation , Skinheads, Ku Klux Klan, etc. Groups such as the Nation of Islam and the Black Panthers are less likely to come to mind when we think about hate groups but the characteristics of these organizations classify them as being exactly that.
