These pages were created by the students in a Hate Crimes course offered in the Criminal Justice program at California State University-Stanislaus. While these pages do not cover every possible topic relating to hate crimes, they will introduce you to some of the issues and ideas.

It is hoped that this site will serve as a resource for those who wish to learn more about hate crimes. If you have suggestions for topics you would like us to address, please contact us.

Dr. Gerstenfeld has written a new textbook on hate crimes, entitled Hate Crimes: Causes, Controls, and Controversies. This book offers a broad, multidisciplinary investigation of the many issues related to hate crimes. It can be ordered directly from the publisher, Sage Publications, or from other bookstores such as Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and Powells.

In addition, Dr. Gerstenfeld and Dr. Diana R. Grant have co-edited a reader on hate crimes, entitled Crimes of Hate: Selected Readings. The reader contains 27 articles from a variety of disciplines, as well as introductions and discussion questions. It, too, can be ordered from Sage, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, or Powells.
